I fondly remember Houston Astros’ Opening Day and day games starting at the Astrodome. When my kids were little, we packed a lunch and sat in the center outfield (cheapest seats $2) along with all the other families with their lunches. The wave always started in the outfield. Opening Day at Minute Maid Park is an all day event before the evening game. It’s lots of fun. It’s a must on your Bucket List.

Minute Maid Park Information Guide | Houston Astros has good information if you like to perform the National Anthem, Strollers storage, stadium Tours, to bring in your Food & Beverages for an Astros game.

FOOD & BEVERAGE POLICY – Guests can bring food and bottled water into Minute Maid Park for Houston Astros games.  WATER – Guests may bring in a factory-sealed, clear plastic bottle of water, no larger than one liter, one bottle per guest.  FOOD Guests may bring in food that is contained in a clear, plastic bag no larger than one gallon in size, one bag per guest.

Check out the stadium tours for sure.

We enjoy going to Ninfa’s Mexican Restaurant on Navigation St. before an Astros game.  The food is delicious but expensive, about $50, including the tip for Grandpa & me.  However, the parking is free at Ninfa’s and if you eat at there, they provide a van ride to the Astros’ game. Parking at Minute Maid Park can range from $50 close by to $10 farther away from the stadium.  So, eating & no parking fee is a good deal.  You will need Ninfa’s receipt for the van.  We like to get there early.  For example, for a 1 pm game, we get to Ninfa’s at 11:00.  There’s plenty of time to eat, catch the van over & walk around the MMP.  Remember, the lines are longer closest to game time. The van drop off is at the Diamond Lot North entrance on Milo Hamilton Street & pick up is at St. Emanuel & Congress.

You can use the Light Rail: Red, Purple, or Green Lines.  I haven’t used the light rail in years.  Metro System Map. They have Free parking, but you have to pay the rail fare. More information at Ride Metro

Don’t forget your scorebook for scoring the game.  You can also buy one at the stadium.

Unfortunately, MMP is a no-cash facility.

You might enjoy walking around MMP & take selfies at the different locations, make sure to take some at the Right Field entrance.
